At St Paul’s Catholic Junior School, our faith is at the heart of everything we do. We are proud of our close links with the Parish of St Paul’s, working together to nurture our children’s faith and support them as they grow into caring, respectful and responsible members of our community.
Our school mission statement, ‘Learning from the example of Jesus, our school will be a place where everyone feels loved, valued and encouraged to be and do the best they can’ and our core gospel values of ‘Be kind, Be Respectful and Be Resilient’ underpin our daily life. Through prayer, worship and the teachings of Jesus, we encourage every child to show kindness, compassion, forgiveness and respect for others.
Our Parish Community – prayer, worship and celebration
Our partnership with the parish of St Paul’s helps to strengthen the connection between school, home and church. Children have opportunities to develop their understanding of the Catholic faith, take part in celebrations of the Church’s year and learn about the importance of living out Gospel values in their everyday lives.
As part of this partnership, Deacon Andy visits the school throughout the year to lead ‘Pray and Pick Up’ sessions with each class and their families, providing opportunities for prayer, reflection and spiritual growth. Father Mark also works closely with the school to plan a programme of Masses and special events that follow the pattern of the liturgical year, including the Stations of the Cross during Lent and Advent and Easter Masses. Some of these take place in school and some in church. Parishioners are warmly invited to join us for some of these celebrations, helping to strengthen our shared sense of faith and community.
Sacramental preparation takes place in partnership with the parish. Our Year 4 children prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion through the shared efforts of the school and parish catechists. Together, we work closely to ensure that children and their families feel welcomed, supported and fully prepared for these important steps in their faith journey.
We also hold special seasonal celebrations for pensioners in our community from the parish. Our Christmas Party has been so successful over the years, that this year, we are extending it to a Summer Strawberry Tea.
We value the support of our parish community in helping our children grow spiritually and develop a strong sense of belonging. Together, we aim to create an environment where every child feels loved, valued and encouraged to be the best they can be.
